An ebook, which is short for "electronic books", is basically a soft
copy version of physical books that you download and read on your
computer or laptop, mobile phones such as iPhone, Nokia, etc), mobile
devices like your PDA and Blackberries, reading devices such the Amazon
Kindle etc.
What is great about ebooks are that they're easily mobile
and carried everywhere you go, and thousands of ebooks can be stored all in one
device, so you can easily switch between reads at anytime with a click of the
button. It's a great technology, and easy to use once you've got the hang of
it!
Of
course, ebooks can never replace the smell and feel of physical books,
but let's face it, there are so many books and authors out there, it's
just not possible to buy all the books. eBooks are a great compliment
to physical books, try out new authors and new titles at our Book Club
prices, and once you've found your favourite authors, you can then
purchase their physical books to collect and caress during the late
night readings.
Now, most of our ebooks are in HTML
format, which can be easily opened up without any special software to read. A
few may be in Adobe PDF format, Microsoft Lit format, or Mobipocket format, in
which case, you will have to download their software reader to read these
format. They are all free to download, and my favourite software reader is Mobipocket
Reader - it's very user-friendly and can also be used to import and read
other formats like HTML, text, PDF, CHM, and ePub
formats. Best of all, you can change colors, font size and background to enhance the reading experience! For the iPhone, Stanza is our favourite software and it is also free to download.
Download files have been compressed and zipped for
quicker download times, you will need to have WinRAR or WinZip to unzip the compressed
files, which have free versions for download.
Try out an ebook
today, it's more fun and less difficult than what many people have perceived it
to be! If you face any difficulties on how to download and read, drop off a
